OTTAWA, Ontario -- Jaromir Jagr scored a power-play goal 3:39 into overtime, and the New Jersey Devils beat the Ottawa Senators 3-2 on an emotional Saturday night in Canada's capital.
It was the Senators' first game since the shooting death of Cpl. Nathan Cirillo at the National War Memorial on Wednesday. A touching tribute took place prior to puck drop as players and fans united to commemorate the loss of Cirillo and Warrant Officer Patrice Vincent, who was killed in a hit-and-run attack Monday near Montreal.
Marek Zidlicky and Damon Severson also scored for the Devils, who snapped a four-game winless streak. Cory Schneider had 33 saves.
Alex Chiasson and Bobby Ryan scored for the Senators, who had won four in a row. Robin Lehner made 26 stops in front of a sellout crowd of 19,266.
Ryan's power-play goal midway through the third tied it at 2, but Jagr's second goal of the season sent New Jersey home with the victory.
PENGUINS 3, PREDATORS 0
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Sidney Crosby had a goal and two assists, and Pittsburgh handed Nashville its first loss in regulation.
The Predators were the last NHL team to lose in regulation this season.
Evgeni Malkin and Pascal Dupuis also scored for Pittsburgh, which snapped a two-game losing streak. Marc-Andre Fleury made 25 saves for his first shutout of the season and 29th of his career.
Pekka Rinne had 23 saves for Nashville.
BLUES 3, BLACKHAWKS 2
ST. LOUIS -- Jaden Schwartz, Ryan Reaves and Dmitrij Jaskin scored, and St. Louis stopped a two-game losing streak.
The Blues had scored just once in losing back-to-back games to Anaheim and Vancouver.
Patrick Sharp and Kris Versteeg scored for the Blackhawks, who have dropped two straight in regulation, falling again after losing in Nashville on Thursday.
Antti Raanta, subbing for injured starter Corey Crawford, made 28 saves for Chicago. Brian Elliott had 22 stops for St. Louis.
The Blackhawks eliminated the Blues in a physical playoff series in April.
WILD 7, LIGHTNING 2
ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Jason Zucker had two goals to power Minnesota to the big win.
Zach Parise and Marco Scandella each had a goal and an assist, and 13 Wild players had at least one point.
Minnesota tied a team record with four goals on eight shots in the first period, capped by Zucker spinning around along the boards and firing the puck past goalie Evgeni Nabokov at 17:15.
Tampa Bay coach Jon Cooper pulled Nabokov, who has 16 career wins against Minnesota, and replaced him with Ben Bishop after Zucker's score.
Anton Stralman and Nikita Kucherov had Tampa Bay's goals.
BRUINS 4, MAPLE LEAFS 1
TORONTO -- Patrice Bergeron earned his 500th point on the first of his two assists and Tuukka Rask had 32 saves in Boston's first game since captain Zdeno Chara was sidelined by a left knee injury.
After a moving pregame ceremony to honor two fallen soldiers, Toronto quickly fell flat and drew boos from the crowd after the Bruins went ahead 4-0 early in the third period.
Carl Soderberg, David Krejci, Gregory Campbell and Dougie Hamilton scored for Boston. Hamilton also had two assists.
Rask, the reigning Vezina Trophy winner, is 10-2-0 in 14 outings against Toronto. He came into the game with a .943 save percentage and 1.64 goals-against average against the Leafs.
Toronto goalie Jonathan Bernier left early in the third period after giving up four goals on 25 shots.
CANADIENS 3, RANGERS 1
MONTREAL -- Lars Eller broke a tie midway through the second period, and Max Pacioretty scored in the third to lead the Canadiens to the win.
Tomas Plekanec had a short-handed goal in the first period, and Carey Price made 34 saves for Montreal (7-1) in his first meeting with New York since Chris Kreider knocked him out in the first game of last season's Eastern Conference finals.
Price improved to 6-1 this season.
Carl Hagelin scored the lone goal for the Rangers (4-4). Henrik Lundqvist stopped 27 shots, but New York's winning streak was snapped at three.
ISLANDERS 7, STARS 5
UNIONDALE, N.Y. -- Frans Nielsen scored three goals in the third period, and the Islanders held on for the win.
It was the sixth victory in eight games for the resurgent Islanders. The Stars lost one night after beating the Devils in New Jersey in a shootout.
Backup Chad Johnson made 26 saves for the Islanders in his second straight start. He has won all three games he has played this season.
Jason Spezza and Tyler Seguin each had a goal and an assist for the Stars. Shawn Horcoff, Antoine Roussel and Vernon Fiddler also scored.
Anders Lindback finished with 22 stops for Dallas.
COYOTES 2, PANTHERS 1, OT
GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Oliver Ekman-Larsson scored at 2:20 of overtime, Mike Smith stopped 23 shots and Arizona rallied for the win.
Justin Hodgman scored in his NHL debut and the Coyotes had a strong defensive game in front of Smith to end a three-game losing streak.
Hodgman, a healthy scratch in two games during his first stint with the Coyotes, scored on a power play midway through the third period, ending Arizona's scoreless streak of more than 127 minutes. Ekman-Larsson ended the game on another power play, one-timing a shot past Robert Luongo.
Brandon Pirri scored in the third period, and Luongo stopped 39 shots for Florida.
FLYERS 4, RED WINGS 2
PHILADELPHIA -- Michael Raffl scored two goals for the Flyers, and Brayden Schenn netted the winner during a power play with 8:55 remaining.
Nicklas Grossmann also scored for Philadelphia, which won its ninth straight home game over Detroit and avoided its worst home start. The Flyers, who dropped their first three home games this season, haven't lost in Philadelphia to the Red Wings since June 3, 1997.
Jakub Voracek had a pair of assists for Philadelphia.
Pavel Datsyuk and Riley Sheahan scored for Detroit, which outshot the Flyers 37-17.
SABRES 2, SHARKS 1
SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Cody Hodgson and Nicolas Deslauriers each scored their first goal of the season early in the third period, and Buffalo continued its dominance over San Jose.
Michal Neuvirth saved 29 of 30 shots to earn his first win over the Sharks in four games and help end Buffalo's four-game losing streak.
Brent Burns scored for the Sharks, who have lost four straight. Alex Stalock stopped 13 of 15 shots.
The Sabres, who were outscored 11-1 during their losing streak, won their seventh straight over the Sharks, including the past four in San Jose. The Sharks last beat Buffalo on their home ice in January 2010.
