New-look Penguins eager to get started

NHL, Pittsburgh Penguins

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Penguins can finally turn the page on an eventful summer off the ice when they host Anaheim in their regular season opener on Thursday night.

The game marks the head coaching debut for Mike Johnston, hired in June to replace Dan Bylsma. While star Sidney Crosby says he expects some growing pains as the Penguins adjust to Johnston's system, he is hopeful the transition won't take long.

Pittsburgh has been one of the NHL's hottest teams out of the gate this decade. The Penguins have won 65 percent of their games during the first month of the season since 2009. Pittsburgh center Evgeni Malkin is expected to play after missing most of training camp with an undisclosed injury.
