The New York Rangers avoided arbitration with Derick Brassard by agreeing to terms with the restricted free-agent center, the team announced Sunday.
Brassard will receive a five-year contract, his agent, Allan Walsh, said on Twitter.
Interesting last couple of hours, I can confirm that Derick Brassard has agreed to terms on a 5 year contract.

The deal is worth $25 million and contains a limited no-trade clause, a source confirmed to ESPNNewYork.com
Brassard, 26, scored a career-high 18 goals last season and recorded 45 points in 81 games. He then posted 12 points during the playoffs.
Brassard played on a potent third line that also included Mats Zuccarello and Benoit Pouliot. Pouliot left to sign a five-year, $20 million contract with the Edmonton Oilers.
Earlier this offseason, the Rangers avoided arbitration with restricted free agents Zuccarello (one year, $3.5 million) and Chris Kreider (two years, $4.95 million).
