The New York Rangers narrowly avoided arbitration with Chris Kreider by agreeing to terms with the restricted-free-agent winger Wednesday, the team announced.
Kreider is getting a two-year contract with an average annual value of $2.475 million, a source confirmed.
Kreider had an arbitration hearing scheduled for 9 a.m. Wednesday, but the two sides agreed to terms before it.
The 23-year-old notched 17 goals and 20 assists during the 2013-14 regular season.
He then posted 13 points during the team's Stanley Cup finals run.
