Former Sabres general manager Darcy Regier is back in the NHL after getting the axe from Buffalo last season.
The Arizona Coyotes named Regier their senior vice president and assistant general manager Thursday.
According to the Coyotes' official team website, Regier signed a multiyear contract with the club, where he will join general manager Don Maloney.
"We are very pleased Darcy has decided to join us in Arizona," Maloney said, according to the team's website. "Darcy adds intelligence and experience to our management team. The wealth of knowledge he has garnered as a long time General Manager in the National Hockey League is invaluable to us. He is a great addition to our staff."
Regier was fired in November 2013 after 17 seasons with the Sabres in a tailspin and foundering at the bottom of the Eastern Conference. Buffalo, who later named Tim Murray as Regier's successor, finished dead last in the NHL with a dreadful 21-51-10 record.
