Jonathan Quick has surgery

Star Los Angeles Kings goalie Jonathan Quick had wrist surgery Tuesday, the team announced.

He will need 10 to 12 weeks of recovery time, which means he should be ready to practice about when the Kings open training camp in September.

The injury happened during the team's second-round playoff series against the Anaheim Ducks. Quick kept playing as Los Angeles won its second Stanley Cup title in three seasons. Team doctors suggested surgery after the season ended.

The team wouldn't specify which wrist was injured.

ESPN's Pierre LeBrun and The Associated Press contributed to this report.
