The New York Islanders have agreed to a four-year contract with recently acquired goaltender Jaroslav Halak, the team announced Thursday. Halak's deal is worth $18 million, a source told ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun. Halak, who was eligible to become an unrestricted free agent, was acquired by the Islanders from the Washington Capitals on May 1 for a fourth-round pick. He split last season between St. Louis and Washington, compiling a 29-13-7 record with a 2.25 goals-against average and .921 save percentage. In 272 career games with Montreal, St. Louis and Washington, the 28-year-old Halak has a 144-85-29 record with a 2.38 goals-against average, a .918 save percentage and 30 shutouts. Halak's career highlight came in 2010, when he helped the Canadiens reach the Eastern Conference finals.
