Matt Duchene likely out entire round

DENVER -- Colorado Avalanche coach Patrick Roy said he expects center Matt Duchene to miss the entire first-round playoffs series against the Minnesota Wild, even if it goes seven games.

Duchene injured his MCL in March against the San Jose Sharks and was expected to miss four weeks. He had hoped to be back at some point in the first round of the postseason, something Roy all but ruled out following Saturday's morning skate.

"I don't think we will see Matt in [this] series," Roy said. "I'd be very, very surprised. He hasn't started skating yet. ... I don't think we will see him."

The news on injured center John Mitchell (concussion) wasn't much more encouraging. Roy said he remains day to day.

"We'll see how it goes," Roy said. "He's not close. He hasn't started even to ride the bike. He's not ready to play."
