Columbus' Horton gets goal without playing game

DALLAS -- Columbus forward Nathan Horton is getting credit for a goal without playing in a game against Dallas.

Horton scored in the first period March 10 against the Stars about 4 minutes before the game was postponed when Dallas forward Rich Peverley collapsed on the bench because of an irregular heartbeat.

The rescheduled game Wednesday started from the beginning, but with the Blue Jackets leading 1-0. All stats except the goal were scrubbed, and Horton missed the makeup game with a lower-body injury.

STATS research going back to the 1989-90 season couldn't find an instance where a player scored a goal without officially playing in a game.

When Detroit's Jiri Fischer collapsed during a game in 2005, Nashville's Scottie Upshall was credited with an assist despite missing the makeup game.
