Marian Hossa cleared to return

CHICAGO -- Blackhawks forward Marian Hossa had a goal and two assists in his return after missing five consecutive games with an upper-body injury as Chicago dropped Detroit 4-1 on Sunday.

"It's great to come back and try to help the team," Hossa said. "It's five games, so I don't know how much fresher I'll be than the other guys. But there's some benefit, maybe."

Hossa was injured against the Pittsburgh Penguins on March 1. He returned to practice Friday and participated in the team's practice Saturday. The Blackhawks went 2-3 in Hossa's absence.

Hossa entered Sunday's game with 24 goals, 26 assists and a plus-25 rating in 57 games this season. He was also third in the league with 65 takeaways.

The defending Stanley Cup champion Blackhawks are 6-5 in their past 11 games and 39-15-14 overall with 92 points for the season. They're in third place in the Central behind the first-place St. Louis Blues and the Colorado Avalanche.
