Boston Bruins defenseman Dennis Seidenberg underwent surgery Tuesday morning to repair a torn MCL and ACL in his right knee.
Team physician Dr. Peter Asnis performed the surgery. Seidenberg's rehab is expected to take six to eight months, and he's hoping to be ready for the start of the 2014-15 season.
Seidenberg suffered the injury late in the third period of Boston's 5-0 home victory against the Ottawa Senators on Dec. 27. He was tangled up behind the Bruins' net with the Senators' Cory Conacher. After the collision, Seidenberg remained on the ice for a moment, grabbing his right knee before skating off on his own.
Seidenberg, 32, signed a four-year, $13 million deal at the start of this season. He had one goal and nine assists for 10 points, including a plus-11 in 34 games before the injury.
