UNIONDALE, N.Y. -- Kyle Okposo scored 58 seconds into overtime, and the New York Islanders beat the Chicago Blackhawks 3-2 after blowing a two-goal lead on Thursday night.

One day after Okposo was disappointed by not being chosen for the U.S. Olympic team, he snapped a drive past goalie Corey Crawford, who finished with 31 saves.

Casey Cizikas scored in his 100th NHL game, and Thomas Vanek added a goal for the Islanders. Defenseman Andrew MacDonald had two assists, and Evgeni Nabokov made 37 saves.

Brent Seabrook, in the second period, and Ben Smith early in the third scored to help the defending Stanley Cup champions rally from a 2-0 deficit.

BRUINS 3, PREDATORS 2, OT

BOSTON -- Brad Marchand scored 54 seconds into overtime, faking out a defender at the point and then wristing the puck into the net to give the Bruins a victory over the Predators.

Marchand's move past Predators forward Mike Fisher gave Bruins goalie Niklas Svedberg a victory in his NHL debut. Svedberg, who was called up from the AHL, stopped 33 shots.

Jarome Iginla and Johnny Boychuk also scored for Boston, which snapped a two-game losing streak.

Viktor Stalberg and Shea Weber scored for Nashville. Marek Mazanec made 22 saves for the Predators, who lost for the first time in three games.

HURRICANES 4, CAPITALS 3, OT

WASHINGTON -- Jeff Skinner scored three goals, including the winner in overtime, and Anton Khudobin made 38 saves in his first start in 2½ months, leading Carolina over the Capitals.

Skinner took a pass from Ryan Murphy to cap a 3-on-1 break at 1:20 of the extra period for his 19th goal of the season. Manny Malhotra also scored for the Hurricanes, who have won two in a row after a five-game losing streak.

Washington's Alex Ovechkin, skating on a new line with Eric Fehr and Mikhail Grabovski, broke a four-game point-less streak with a goal but also missed a penalty shot. Troy Brouwer and Steve Oleksy also scored for the Capitals, who have lost three straight and five of six.

SENATORS 4, JETS 3

OTTAWA, Ontario -- Mika Zibanejad had a goal and an assist and Clarke MacArthur scored the winning goal midway through the third period and the Senators beat Winnipeg.

Kyle Turris stole the puck and passed to MacArthur, who scored and helped the Senators win for the third straight time. They had not won back-to-back games in nearly seven weeks prior to the second win of their current streak.

Milan Michalek and Zack Smith also scored for the Senators, who have four wins in their past five games.

Dustin Byfuglien, Evander Kane and Olli Jokinen scored for the Jets and Al Montoya made 25 saves.

WILD 4, SABRES 1

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Jason Pominville scored another goal against his old team, and the Wild beat the to stop a franchise-record streak of six straight losses in regulation.

Marco Scandella scored just 106 seconds before Pominville. Jason Zucker had the third goal in the second period against Ryan Miller, one of the three goalies recently picked for the U.S. Olympic team.

The Wild won for the first time since Dec. 17, and Niklas Backstrom picked up a victory for the first time in his last nine starts since Nov. 23. With Josh Harding sitting out with an illness, Backstrom stopped 19 shots.

Miller made 28 saves.

BLUES 5, KINGS 0

ST. LOUIS -- T.J. Oshie scored twice and Brian Elliott made 30 saves to lead the St. Louis Blues to a 5-0 win over the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday.

St. Louis has won four in a row and six of seven.

Los Angeles lost a season-high fifth successive game. The Kings' previous five-game losing streak came Dec. 3-13, 2011.

Elliott, who improved to 11-1-2, picked up his third shutout of the season and 24th of his career. He stopped 13 shots in the opening period, including a pad save on Jarret Stoll.

Brenden Morrow, Vladimir Tarasenko and Barret Jackman also scored for St. Louis.

BLUE JACKETS 2, COYOTES 0

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Nathan Horton scored in his Columbus debut, Curtis McElhinney made 34 saves for his second shutout of the season and the Blue Jackets beat the sluggish Coyotes 2-0.

R.J. Umberger also scored for the Blue Jackets, who snapped a two-game losing streak with a burst of energy provided by Horton, Columbus' $37 million offseason free-agent acquisition.

Horton, the ex-Boston Bruins winger who missed the first 40 games following shoulder surgery, poked in a rebound late in the second period for his 199th career goal.

Umberger added a second power-play goal midway through the final period.

Mike Smith stopped 29 shots for the Coyotes, who were shut out for the first time this season and saw their streak of six straight overtime games snapped.

AVALANCHE 2, FLYERS 1

DENVER -- Semyon Varlamov stopped 29 shots, Ryan O'Reilly and Jamie McGinn had a goal each and the Avalanche beat the Flyers.

Steve Mason also had 29 saves and Wayne Simmonds scored for the Flyers, who had their four-game winning streak stopped.

Varlamov had several good stops throughout the game, including one on Scott Hartnell with 3:24 left. It was the second time Varlamov made a big save on the big forward.

CANADIENS 6, STARS 4

DALLAS -- Lars Eller broke a tie midway through the third period, Max Pacioretty had two goals and two assists, and the Canadiens beat the Stars.

P.K. Subban had a goal and three assists, and Brendan Gallagher and David Desharnais also scored for Montreal, which finished a season-high six-game road trip at 3-2-1.

Valeri Nichushkin converted a penalty shot for Dallas. Jamie Benn, Tyler Seguin and Brenden Dillon tallied for the Stars.

Dallas (20-13-7) lost in regulation for the first time in eight games, ending its longest streak of games with a point this season at 5-0-2.
