PHILADELPHIA -- Scott Hartnell and Sean Couturier provided the offense while Steve Mason stopped all but one shot as the Philadelphia Flyers skated to a 2-1 victory over the Winnipeg Jets on Friday afternoon.
The Flyers (11-12-2) won their fifth straight game at home after dropping their previous two on the road at Florida and Tampa Bay.
Mason turned away 25 shots in the early matinee, including an impressive pad save on Matt Halischuk on a 2-on-1 Jets chance in the second. He improved to 3-0-1 in his career against the Jets (12-12-4).
Both Flyers goals came off Winnipeg turnovers.
BLACKHAWKS 2, STARS 1, SO
DALLAS -- Ben Smith scored in the 11th round of a wild shootout and Chicago finally beat Dallas for its fifth straight victory.
Chicago's Patrick Sharp and Dallas' Rich Peverley had the only goals through the first 10 rounds of the tiebreaker. Each of them scored in regulation, too.
It was the longest shootout in the NHL since Tampa Bay beat the New York Rangers in 11 rounds on Dec. 23, 2010, according to STATS. The Lightning won that game 4-3 with a 3-2 edge in the tiebreaker.
Sharp tied it 1-all at 7:21 of the third period. Peverley scored at 16:40 of the first.
Stars defenseman Stephane Robidas broke his right leg when he slid hard into the boards in the second period. He was wheeled off the ice on a stretcher and taken to the hospital.
Chicago has won six straight against the Stars and five in a row at Dallas dating to Oct. 7, 2011.
Blackhawks goalie Corey Crawford stopped Alex Chiasson on a penalty shot early in the second and blanked Dallas the rest of the way en route to his 100th NHL win.
Crawford and Stars goalie Kari Lehtonen combined to stop 16 consecutive shootout attempts until Smith connected.
BRUINS 3, RANGERS 2
BOSTON -- Zdeno Chara and Patrice Bergeron scored third-period goals to lift the Bruins. Brad Marchand also scored for the Eastern Conference leaders, who improved to 9-2-2 in their last 13 games.
Rick Nash and Ryan McDonagh scored for the Rangers, who completed a five-game road trip 3-2.
Tuukka Rask stopped 17 shots for Boston, which hasn't lost in regulation at home in its last 10 games (8-0-2).
Henrik Lundqvist made 25 saves for the Rangers, who played their first game in Boston since the Bruins eliminated them in five games in the second round of the Eastern Conference playoffs last spring.
PENGUINS 3, LIGHTNING 0
TAMPA, Fla. -- Chris Kunitz scored two goals and Marc-Andre Fleury stopped all 21 shots. Sidney Crosby had assists on all three goals for Pittsburgh, which extended its winning streak in the series to eight games. Pittsburgh halted Tampa Bay's bid to tie a club record with an eighth consecutive triumph on home ice.
Kunitz opened the scoring seven minutes in, taking a pass from Crosby and lifting it past Lightning goalie Ben Bishop from the left circle. Kunitz sealed the win with an empty-net goal with 1:43 remaining in the game.
Brandon Sutter scored the second Pittsburgh goal on a power play midway into the third period.
SHARKS 6, BLUES 3
SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Brent Burns got his first NHL hat trick and the Sharks ended a five-game home losing streak.
Joe Thornton, Tomas Hertl and Tommy Wingels also scored for the Sharks, who won their fourth straight and seventh in eight.
Ian Cole scored his first goal in nearly two years as the Blues had their five-game winning streak halted. David Backes and Jaden Schwartz also scored for St. Louis.
Antti Niemi stopped 21 of 24 shots for his 14th win of the season. Brian Elliott took the loss, his first in eight games, after giving up four goals on 12 shots. He was lifted for Jaroslav Halak, who had 18 saves.
RED WINGS 5, ISLANDERS 0
UNIONDALE, N.Y. -- Daniel Alfredsson had two goals and an assist, Darren Helm had two goals and Jimmy Howard made 29 saves. Detroit got its first regulation victory against New York in a decade.
Detroit won its third in a row as the reeling Islanders lost their fifth straight. Since beating Boston 3-1 on home on Nov. 2, the Islanders are 2-10.
New York came into the game with a 6-0-1 mark against Detroit in its past seven meetings. The Red Wings hadn't beaten the Islanders in regulation since November 2003.
The shutout was the second this season for Howard and the 18th of his career. The 29-year-old goaltender entered with a 0-3-4 record in his past seven starts, allowing at least three goals five times during the streak.
DUCKS 5, FLAMES 2
ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Dustin Penner had two goals and Saku Koivu had two assists in his long-awaited return to the lineup.
It was the Ducks' 18th win in a row over the Flames at home. The streak is the Ducks' longest against any opponent at Honda Center. Calgary hasn't beaten Anaheim on the road since Jan. 19, 2004; only three players on Calgary's current roster had made their NHL debut by then: Michael Cammalleri, Jiri Hudler and Matt Stajan.
Sami Vatanen and Corey Perry scored 54 seconds apart in the first period. Perry and Andrew Cogliano each had a goal and an assist during Anaheim's 42-shot barrage, and rookie Frederik Andersen made 19 saves for the defending Pacific Division champions, who are off to a franchise-best 10-0-1 start at home.
AVALANCHE 3, WILD 1
ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Gabriel Landeskog had a goal and two assists, and Jean-Sebastien Giguere made 27 saves to set a franchise record with his sixth straight win to start a season in Colorado's victory over Minnesota.
Jan Hejda and Nathan MacKinnon also scored for the Avalanche, who won for the fourth time in five games.
Dany Heatley scored his fourth goal in six games for Minnesota and Zach Parise returned ahead of schedule from a foot injury.
Parise, the Wild's leading scorer, was supposed to be out two to three weeks after blocking a shot with his left foot Monday, but skated during warmups and felt good enough to play.
Despite his comeback, the Wild lost their third straight.
DEVILS 5, HURRICANES 2
RALEIGH, N.C. -- Jaromir Jagr had a goal and two assists, and New Jersey scored four times in the third period to beat Carolina.
Jagr's goal with 3:29 left was the 692nd of his career, tying him with Steve Yzerman for eighth in NHL history.
Adam Henrique scored the go-ahead goal on a power play with 7:58 left after Andrei Loktionov tied it with 11:17 remaining. Dainius Zubrus then added a goal off a deflection.
Zubrus also had an assist and Mark Fayne scored an early goal to help the Devils snap a three-game skid.
Jeff Skinner and Jordan Staal scored in the second period to give the Hurricanes a 2-1 lead.
Cory Schneider stopped 16 shots in his first start since Nov. 21 for New Jersey. Cam Ward made 26 saves in his fourth straight start for the Hurricanes.
CAPITALS 3, CANADIENS 2, SO
WASHINGTON -- Mikhail Grabovski tied the score with 5:32 left in the third period and had the go-ahead goal in a shootout to help Washington snap its four-game losing streak with a victory over Montreal.
Braden Holtby kicked away attempts by Alex Galchenyuk and Tomas Plekanec, giving Washington a 3-2 edge in the shootout. Eric Fehr, who had a goal and an assist in regulation, also scored in the tiebreaker for the Capitals along with Alex Ovechkin.
Plekanec had a goal and an assist for Montreal, which had won four straight. Daniel Briere added a goal and Brian Gionta assisted on both regulation scores for the Canadiens.
Lars Eller and David Desharnais connected in the shootout for Montreal.
The evening began in bizarre fashion for Washington. After a lower-body injury to goalie Michal Neuvirth in warmups, the Capitals hastily signed video coach Brett Leonhardt to back up Holtby, who finished with 35 saves. In a similar situation in December 2008, Washington suited up Leonhardt -- a former college goalie.
BLUE JACKETS 4, OILERS 2
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ryan Johansen had a goal and an assist for his seventh multipoint game this season to lead Columbus past Edmonton.
Artem Anisimov, Nick Foligno and Jack Skille also scored for Columbus, which won for only the second time in its last eight home games. The Blue Jackets dominated with an aggressive forecheck -- until the Oilers scored twice in the third period -- to make amends for a 7-0 defeat in Edmonton last week.
Matt Calvert added two assists and Sergei Bobrovsky made 25 saves for Columbus.
Bobrovsky outplayed fellow Russian and former Philadelphia Flyers teammate Ilya Bryzgalov, who stopped 19 shots and was replaced by Devan Dubnyk at the start of the third period.
Signed on Nov. 8, Bryzgalov made his second start for Edmonton after shutting out Nashville 3-0 on Thanksgiving.
Sam Gagner and Jordan Eberle scored for the Oilers, who had won four of five.
SABRES 3, MAPLE LEAFS 2, OT
BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Christian Ehrhoff scored 38 seconds into overtime and Buffalo snapped a five-game losing streak with a win over Toronto.
Matt Moulson and Luke Adam also scored for the Sabres, who got 22 saves from Ryan Miller and came from behind twice to force overtime.
Nikolai Kulemin and Phil Kessel scored for Toronto, which has lost six straight road games.
Buffalo's second home win over the Maple Leafs was just its third victory at home in 15 attempts and its sixth win overall.
