Quickie here for 11 more years. I smell at least a couple more Cups! 322 Days ago

Wow. Talk about a steal. Quick was by far the biggest contributer to the Kings cup win and all future success depends on him playing the same. I hope for his sake it's front-loaded. 322 Days ago

I would say this is a normal $ amount for contract of that length for an nhl player. Remember they don't get paid nearly as much as NBA, NFL, or MLB athletes. 322 Days ago

Terry Murray is back with Flyers organization who will coach their AHL affiliate Phantoms..Also heard Kings will still give Terry Murray a championship ring..Although I never like Murray I agree about giving him a ring and many of us Kings fans knows he laid out a good foundation to our defensive systems.. 322 Days ago

I still cant believe that we locked JQ up 10yrs for dirt cheap..With the salary cap being raised to $70.2M next season, thats another 5.9M add to our almost $12M salary cap..I am sure Lombardi can make a generous offer to King and Penner..I would like to see Kings sign King maybe 5yrs and for Penner I dont know..If Penner walks I would like to see Kings go after Parise if not I will settle for Chris Kelly from Bruins or P.A. Parentaeu from NYI..Whatever Lombardi decide to do I am ready to see us repeat its impossible but it can be done..GKG! 322 Days ago

Penner will likely get $3 mil/yr I think. I have a feeling the Kings are going to wait to see what Parise does on Sunday before getting serious with Penner talks. If Parise says anything about the Kings, Penner is going to be put on the back burner. My feelings, Penner will be back with Kings. Even if Parise lists the Kings, I don't think we'll be able to out bid MN, Pitt, and Detroit. 322 Days ago

Especially since DL knows that he is better off going after Suter. 321 Days ago

King is a cap hit at $725,000 next season; give him another year before he can negotiate for more. 322 Days ago
21SanDiego
Where did you get this info? I haven't seen any info on King getting a tendered offer. CapGeek doesn't even have this $725K figure. He made $585K last year and he's an RFA...can't wait till next year to negotiate more unless the Kings let him walk to UFA. I say a $1-1.5 mil/yr contract gets it done. His agent is probably going to see what his market value is next week first. 322 Days ago

I always like Dean to what he did in SJ and when I heard Kings hired him a few years back I was pretty happy..I told my friend that he will build a great team..sure enough we have our first cup.. 322 Days ago

Absolutely! The guy is at genius level at this point. That's why I can't go on the ESPN Kings forum , those tool boxes all call him Dumbo....would be interesting what those fools say now. 322 Days ago

Quick= The Kings best goalie ever! =D Congrats Quicky!!! 322 Days ago

Hockey has it right. Quick deserves this money no doubt. Not really any out of control contracts in the NHL in my opinion. Sure there may be bad ones here and there but for the most part it's under control.. I'm a Yanks fan and see how ridiculous contracts can get. $28 mil for A-Rod to play a game is ludicrous. 322 Days ago

Especially when you break it down by plate appearance....what is that, like $70,000 every time he comes up to bat? 322 Days ago

Great news for all Kings fans. Looking at some of the contracts other goalies have gotten lately I think the Kings got a deal here. Quick got recognition this last season but has put up good numbers playing for a team that just wasnt getting it done the 2 previous seasons as well. I'd like to think Quick knew he could get more but didnt want to be a huge hit to the teams cap space. Lombardi has filled this team with many team first type of guys, other than 2 exceptions and one of them may not be back next year, and it looks like Quick is one of them. 322 Days ago

Crosby gets how much more $$ than Quick? I think Quick is more valuable to his team than Crosby is for his team. 322 Days ago
Rastamanjojoboy
I think Quick knew he could ask for more but he wanted the team to have the cap space left for the future of the team. I dont know if Gagne is coming back after his concussion problems of the last 2 seasons and if the Kings let Penner go I believe they will have about 12mil in cap space. Can anyone say Parise? He will probably stay in NJ but I can dream. 322 Days ago
lessthanclippers
Exactly. And for people to say that Lombardi insulted him? He took the deal. He cares about the team, and figures this is MORE than enough money. 322 Days ago

Great job locking him down Deano! Looks like we're going to contend for a few years now!

Good thing he's already won a Cup for the Kings. 10 year contracts have the tendency to ruin goalies. Hopefully it doesn't happen in this case. 322 Days ago

looks a lot like the bryz contract, except they paid quick after he had proven himself 322 Days ago

10 times better than Bryz's contract. 321 Days ago

It's actually a bit better than Bryz's contract, and as you said, well worth it because he already has helped the Kings win the Cup. 322 Days ago

Congratulations Mr. Quick., from Middletown, Connecticut. Well deserved, and I hope you keep up the good work, except against Pittsburgh. 322 Days ago

Good move. Means Bernier is leaving soon. 322 Days ago
monkeygod01
Good thing is, the Kings can actually keep him for another year as he is just an RFA, and wait for next year or the trade deadline for someone in desperate need of goaltending...ie, Mapleleafs, Sharks, Stars... 322 Days ago
