With the Stanley Cup finals in the books, it's time for every NHL team to tinker with its roster and see how it can retool for next season. The analysts of Hockey Prospectus provide some help, identi... Read full story
Robert, i realize this article is a little old... but its about time for a new one. Clearly Wideman would be nice, but Parise is a much better fit. Its disapointing you would "save" a player for another team.. its just an article.. you should be honest.
Also, do the Wild have the money and means to sign both Wideman and Parise? If not, could they trade Backstrom for a 2nd round pick and save some cap? 334 Days ago

Yes Parise would be a nice fit, as would many other players we considered, but don't you think Wideman would offer more bang for the buck? If anyone has a point to make with Parise as a Ranger instead, offer them up over at that article.
But yes, despite already having three high-priced players, I think Minnesota could probably still absorb a couple more. Backstrom's up in one year, Heatley in two, at which point some of their young talent will be done their ELCs and looking for big bucks of their own. But that's for another article!

Why wouldn't the Oilers go after Dennis Wideman? They retain the top pick for whomever they choose to pick plus they get a guy with a higher GVT than the promising kid. As Ilya B proved in Philadelphia this year - be skeptical of anyone who thrives statistically in Phoenix under Dave Tippet. 336 Days ago

Well because Wideman isn't an elite D man he is a second pairing offensive defenseman. 336 Days ago

Hey Robert, you know you just made the entire state of MN mad at you right by not putting Parise's name down? LoL, made me chuckle a bit. Looking forward to seeing what you say about my Kings tomorrow. 336 Days ago

Even after he flat out said he will not be going to the Rangers? 334 Days ago

The entire state? I think Kirby Puckett still likes me. Parise would be an interesting fit, but we liked him more as a Ranger. Phil Myrland's going to cover the Pacific division this year. 335 Days ago
