It's ridiculous that people would actually write this stuff, nevertheless actually hit the "send" "enter" "post" button or whatever it is.

I am a Bruins fan, and the fact that you scored the winning goal against my team had nothing to do with the color of your skin( Black, blue, or whatever) .. I was just pissed that you ended my teams playoff run, but now I am rooting for the Caps to take down the Rangers !!!!

As a Bruins fan, I'm pissed off at the morons who would tarnish the reputation of our home, our city, and our fan base with such at stupid, ignorant, and cowardly act. Good luck to Joel and the rest of the Capitals in their quest for the Cup. They were the better team in the series and they've earned the opportunity. Go Caps!

The comments make me mad for Joel. And though I do think ESPN is making a little too much of the story, I hope that the excess publicity helps to identify some of the individuals who think it is okay to act like this on the internet. They deserve real, public, attention. I've always wanted to see how normal people would react if they had to stand behind a message board post or tweet when confronted face to face. Twitter and even ESPN message boards can become a home for cowards who enjoy the feeling of power they get by launching hatred across the internet without any repercussions. I understand what kind of passion sports fans have for their teams, but we're all living vicariously through these athletes and it's never okay to launch a racial attack in order to cope with disappointment. Fingers crossed that, somewhere, someone has to publicly account for their words, typed or spoken.

Stupid people insult at the first thing they notice is different. Hopefully, somehow, Darwinism selects against these morons.

But I thought only people in the South were racist!!! -_- [/sarcasm] Good for Ward, though, and I'm happy to see him advance over the Bruins.

Call me crazy, but I kinda think Jeff Halpern is a bit of a dick for bringing these tweets to Ward's attention. Why bring the guy down when he could have just gone on not knowing about it and enjoyed his day in the sun? There's nothing positive about knowing this information.

Social Media...Online Gaming...all just avenues for cowards and babies to throw their tantrums behind the cover of anonymity. These people did not get their way and thought...How can I make as many people as angry as I am right now? I will make a racist statement...ohhh, that will anger all kinds of people. Racism is not relavant or accepted in our country. People that portray racist tendencies are also irrelevant and should not be acknowledged. They can go back to their life as a 36 year old, living in Mom's basement, playing XBox and telling everyone else how worthless they are.
