The Tennessee Titans are discussing the possibility of signing former Atlanta Falcons defensive end John Abraham to a deal that could be done as soon as this week, a source familiar with the situation told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.
Abraham, who turns 35 on Monday, visited the Titans late last week. Other teams he has made visits to since his release include the New England Patriots, Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos.
He created a buzz on Twitter last weekend with a series of cryptic tweets that seemed to imply that he was retiring.
"Done," he tweeted Saturday, followed later by "Retiring 13."
However, a source close to Abraham told NFL.com that there was "nothing to" the tweets and "perhaps [Abraham is] expressing the frustration" of still being unemployed in May after being released by the Falcons in March.
He led the Falcons last season with 10 sacks but had to cut back on his snaps in a bid to stay healthy. He wasn't much of a factor in the playoffs after injuring his left ankle in the final regular-season game.
Abraham had 68.5 sacks with the Falcons after being acquired in a trade from the New York Jets in 2006. He has 122 sacks in his career.
