Chris Canty agrees with Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens took a step at improving their defensive line, agreeing to a three-year deal with Chris Canty.

Canty's deal is worth $8 million, including $2.8 million guaranteed, according ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

Canty, 30, was released by the New York Giants on Feb. 6 because he was due $6.25 million this year. The veteran has the ability to play both tackle and end.

Baltimore had some competition for Canty, who previously had met with the Kansas City Chiefs, Green Bay Packers and Tennessee Titans. He reportedly received an offer from the Titans.

The Ravens were unhappy with the play of nose tackles Ma'ake Kemoeatu and Terrence Cody last season and had little depth behind defensive tackle Haloti Ngata.

In another move, the Ravens re-signed long-snapper Morgan Cox.
