Why Baltimore can repeat

Ray Lewis is retiring. Whether via free agency or his own retirement, it looks increasingly likely that Ed Reed won't be wearing a Baltimore Ravens uniform next season. And yet, after winning Super Bowl XLVII, the Ravens' prospects for returning to the game next year in New Jersey aren't as bad as one might think.

Not surprisingly, Baltimore fielded the eighth-oldest team in the NFL this season, according to Football Outsiders' snap-weighted age metric. More than just that, along with the Atlanta Falcons and San Diego Chargers, the Ravens were one of only three teams to rank among the oldest 10 in all three phases of football: Their offense was 10th oldest, their defense was seventh oldest and their special teams were seventh oldest.
