New York Giants running back Ahmad Bradshaw had another surgery to replace a screw in his right foot.
Bradshaw was spotted in New Orleans at an autograph signing by reporters wearing a protective boot and moving around with his foot up on a scooter.
He told reporters in New Orleans that the original timetable for recovery is 10 weeks and that he had the surgery two weeks ago.
Bradshaw has undergone surgery on both of his feet and ankles in the past. He's missed six games combined over the past two seasons due to various injuries and often has his practice time limited to recover.
According to the Newark Star-Ledger, Bradshaw said the new screw "is bigger and will go through two bones" to help with the original bone he fractured and the one he cracked in 2011.
Bradshaw told reporters that the stem cell treatment he received last offseason to ease the pain in his foot "wore off," according to Newsday.
Bradshaw sounded very uncertain about his future with the Giants at the end of last season. With the emergence of last year's first-round pick David Wilson and Andre Brown expected to recover from a broken leg, Bradshaw said he understands his roster spot might be at risk if the Giants are "short on funds," as he told reporters in New Orleans, according to the Bergen Record.
He is set to make $3.75 million this season and $4 million in base salary the year after that. The Giants are projected to be nearly $5 million over the salary cap, according to ESPN.com senior NFL writer John Clayton.
And considering they want to re-sign their own free agents like left tackle Will Beatty and try to come to an agreement on an extension with restricted free agent Victor Cruz, the Giants will likely have some tough decisions to make with their roster this offseason.
