QBs vs. Super Bowl schemes

Joe Flacco and Colin Kaepernick will both look to go long Sunday. USA TODAY Sports

Despite our constant need to identify the elite quarterbacks in the league, this year's Super Bowl will pit two players who have yet to enter that conversation in Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco and San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick.

As we continue to hear about the sibling head coaches, Jim and John Harbaugh, perhaps their biggest commonality is the bold moves they made during the season to vault their respective teams to the Super Bowl. One turned to a player who had never started a game heading into the year, and the other fired an offensive coordinator who wasn't getting the job done late in the season.

Both moves helped propel their teams into the Super Bowl and now, with both quarterbacks playing near the top of their game, let's take a look at the defensive schemes they're likely to face Sunday and how they've responded previously.

Flacco Under Pressure

Flacco has not been very good while pressured, as he ranks 24th out of the top 38 qualifiers in accuracy percentage while under duress. Whether it's an inability to read blitzes or simply being unable to avoid the rush, this is not one of the stronger parts of Flacco's game.
