Ravens' Bernard Pollard fined $15K

Baltimore Ravens safety Bernard Pollard was fined $15,250 for unnecessary roughness for his third-quarter hit on New England Patriots wide receiver Wes Welker in the AFC Championship Game last Sunday, according to an NFL spokesperson.

Pollard received a 15-yard penalty on the play for striking an opponent in the head and neck area.

Pollard has a history with the Patriots, having seriously injured Tom Brady, Welker and Rob Gronkowski in previous seasons. In Sunday's game, a 28-13 Ravens victory, Pollard forced a crucial fumble by knocking running back Stevan Ridley out of the game.

Pollard was not penalized or fined for the hit on Ridley.
