Rob Gronkowski active vs. Miami

NFL, Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots

New England Patriots star tight end Rob Gronkowski is active for Sunday's regular-season finale against the Miami Dolphins, marking the first time he has been active since breaking his left forearm on Nov. 18.

Gronkowski was in the starting lineup for the Patriots, who can clinch a first-round bye with a win over the Dolphins.

Gronkowski broke the forearm late in the Patriots' win against the Indianapolis Colts.

After returning to practice Dec. 14, Gronkowski has been listed as questionable for each of the past two games (not counting this week) and was inactive for both.

Gronkowski increased his workload in practice last week to a level at which he would play during a normal week, according to a source familiar with how the team's practice repetitions were divided.

Earlier in the week, Belichick had noted that it was a medical decision that would determine when Gronkowski would return. Now that Gronkowski is active, it suggests that he has been cleared medically and any decisions from this point forward are competitive-based.

Gronkowski has appeared in 10 games this season and has 53 receptions for 748 yards and 10 touchdowns.
