Is Greg McElroy the answer at QB?

Late in the third quarter in Sunday's game against Arizona, with his offense getting shut out and his fan base begging for a change, New York Jets coach Rex Ryan decided he'd seen enough of quarterback Mark Sanchez for the day, and sat him down in favor of second-year passer Greg McElroy. McElroy proceeded to do just enough to beat an Arizona Cardinals team whose own offensive performance was bordering on catastrophic. After the game, Ryan refused to name a starter for next week's meeting against Jacksonville, leaving Sanchez and McElroy (plus the entire fan base) in limbo. Really, though, it doesn't matter who starts against the Jaguars.

After four years of the Mark Sanchez era in New York, it's fair to say that he's never going to develop into the next great Jets passer. However, it seems unlikely that McElroy will be that man, either.
