NFL officials and Sean Payton's agent, Don Yee, are finalizing the conditions under which the suspended New Orleans Saints coach can attempt to negotiate a contract extension with New Orleans, according to a league source.

Those conditions are expected to be finalized before the end of the weekend.

Once the NFL and Yee agree to those conditions, the Saints and Payton are expected to begin discussions aimed at a contract extension shortly thereafter.
