Suspensions would doom Seattle

NFL, Seattle Seahawks

Losing one starting corner is bad. But losing two? That's something that is a season-ender for a lot of teams.

Now, with Richard Sherman and Brandon Browner facing four-game suspensions (pending an appeal) for violating the league's performance-enhancing drug policy, we may find out if the Seattle Seahawks are one of those teams.

As if losing to Miami wasn't bad enough, the Seahawks now face the potential double whammy of losing two players who are instrumental in what they do on defense. Could they overcome such a loss and make the postseason, or is this the moment the dream of the 2012 playoffs starts to fade?

What they're losing

We haven't analyzed every game from Week 12 yet, but there's nothing that can happen in one game to drastically alter our opinions of the Seahawks' cornerbacks. Sherman has our third-highest coverage grade this season (he was fourth as a rookie); Browner is down to 12th overall after finishing 10th last season. They're both big, playmaking cornerbacks who have combined for 37 pass defenses and 17 interceptions since they assumed starting roles the past season and a half.
