Coach: Andrew Luck taking late hits

NFL, Indianapolis Colts

Indianapolis Colts interim coach Bruce Arians told ESPN that he's tired of his rookie quarterback Andrew Luck taking what he called "cheap shots to the head."

"Even if Andrew slides, guys are coming for his head," Arians said.

Arians pointed to a hit by Jaguars safety Dawan Landry two Thursday nights ago as the most recent example.

"That was a cheap shot by Landry. He got a penalty. But a penalty is not enough. Landry should have been ejected from the game. He is sliding, and it's illegal to launch yourself at the quarterback's head like that. He should have been ejected," he said.

Arians said he has not addressed this situation with Luck because he doesn't want to change Luck's aggressive style of play. But the coach is clearly concerned about the health of his rookie quarterback.
