ARLINGTON, Texas -- Outside linebacker DeMarcus Ware and receiver Miles Austin promise to be ready when the Dallas Cowboys open the season Sept. 5 at the New York Giants.

Austin has not practiced since the first week of training camp because of a hamstring strain, and Ware has not practiced since Aug. 16 because of a hamstring strain.

Speaking before the team's kickoff luncheon at Cowboys Stadium on Tuesday, Ware said he practiced the last two days and was good to go. When asked if there is any doubt whether he would play against the Giants, Austin said "no."

Coach Jason Garrett said Monday the hope was that Austin could return to practice by the end of this week.

Tight end Jason Witten had a scan of his injured spleen completed Tuesday morning but the results are not known. The team is hopeful Witten can play against the Giants but will not rush him back.
