Torry Holt to retire as a Ram

ST. LOUIS -- Wide receiver Torry Holt, a seven-time Pro Bowler with the St. Louis Rams, will sign a one-day contract with the franchise and then retire.

The team set a news conference for Wednesday to honor Holt, who spent his first 10 seasons with the Rams after being a first-round pick in 1999.

Holt caught 869 passes for 12,594 yards and 74 touchdowns with St. Louis, all three of those totals ranking second in franchise history behind Isaac Bruce, and was named to the NFL's All-Decade team for the 2000s. He finished his career in 2009 with the Jaguars and is 10th in the NFL with 13,382 yards receiving and 13th with 920 receptions.

Holt set an NFL record with six consecutive seasons with at least 1,300 yards receiving and was an integral member of the franchise's lone Super Bowl victory.
