Scarlet fever

Chicago Bears

Rutgers University will have strong representation this weekend at Halas Hall. In addition to signing Scarlet Knights LB Kevin Malast as an undrafted free agent, Sam Hellman of the The Daily Targum reports that Rutgers DT/DE Pete Tverdov will have a tryout with the Bears.

Tverdov was a former Rutgers team captain.

Hellman also had a chance to speak with Malast, who told the paper, "When I was in Chicago, I felt very comfortable. It reminded me of Rutgers again. Lovie Smith is a great coach who reminds me of [Rutgers head coach] Greg Schiano."

Malast chose to sign with the Bears despite competing offers from St. Louis and Denver.
