Woods, Manning grouped for pro-am

Tiger Woods won't be the only star in his pro-am group on Wednesday morning at the Quail Hollow Championship. He'll be joined by Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning.

Manning, the NFL's most valuable player in 2008, will tee off with Woods at 7:30 a.m. ET at Charlotte's PGA Tour stop, where Woods is making his first PGA Tour start since a tie for sixth at the Masters. Manning played with Kenny Perry last week in the Zurich Classic pro-am at New Orleans.

Woods is used to sharing the stage at this pro-am. In 2007, he asked to be paired with Michael Jordan for the event, and the pairing was easily the top draw of the day.

The tournament has attracted a top field, including Phil Mickelson, Sergio Garcia, Padraig Harrington and Masters champion Angel Cabrera. Manning has previously played in this Quail Hollow pro-am with Garcia. He also played a pro-am with Woods at the Arnold Palmer Invitational three years ago.

Three-time defending Nextel Cup champion Jimmie Johnson, driver Michael Waltrip, former NBA great Julius Erving and ESPN's Chris Berman are also scheduled to play in the Wednesday pro-am, which features a pro and two amateurs in every group.
