The best tutors in the game

Marcus Freeman's excitement at being selected by the Bears was evident during a brief conference call at Halas Hall.

"I'm so excited and so thankful to be a part of such a great organization," said Freeman. "If you really sit down before the draft and pick a team that could really fit me and the way I play, Chicago was a great fit for me. I get a chance to learn behind some of the greatest linebackers to play this game."

On falling to the fifth round: "I had a couple people tell me I was going to go higher, but you fall where you fall. I think any competitor wants to go as high as he can, but to be in this situation and a part of this organization is something I'm truly excited about. I did have a couple of injuries this year and a few in the past year and maybe some teams looked at that, but I did talk to Coach [Lovie] Smith and I told him I'm ready to go."

Where does he play: "I played weak side here at Ohio State, but I also played a little strong too. I'm just excited to go in there and learn and see what the best fit is for me."

On special teams experience: "My first two years I played them all (special teams). These past two years I've played on the punt team. Special teams are something we strive to do at Ohio State and something I think I can do well."
