Raw talent too good to pass up

Bears scouting director Greg Gabriel just emerged from the Bears' war room for the second time this afternoon to discuss the last two picks -- receiver Johnny Knox and linebacker Marcus Freeman.

On Knox's combine: "Very strong. That was after he had a strong performance in the Texas vs. The Nation game in El Paso, Texas. He comes from a smaller level of competition, but the athletic skills and speed are just too good to pass up."

On Freeman's role in Chicago: "He's a [weak-side linebacker] for us, but because of his size, skill and strength, he can play all three positions. He's a value pick for us. This is guy who on our board was quite high. Too good of a player to pass up."

Knox's learning curve: "Yeah, you got to look at the learning curve, but the physical traits were really strong. He was clearly one of the fastest guys at the combine at the wide receiver position. We are looking for somebody to stretch the field along with Devin [Hester]."
