Bears contine to beef up 'D'

Chicago Bears

Defense continues to be the major theme of this draft as the Bears select Ohio State linebacker Marcus Freeman with pick No. 154. Freeman fits into the Bears' mold at linebacker, a speedy selection who should likely be able to contribute on special teams.

Just like Henry Melton played in the shadow of Brian Orakpo at Texas, Freeman had to share the spotlight with James Laurinaitis in Columbus. Freeman has the versatility to play all three linebacker spots, and should provide some nice depth at the position if he sticks on the roster.

Since Jamar Williams is entering the last year of his contract, Freeman is likely looked at in the short term, as the future back-up for Lance Briggs.
