Angelo admits interest in Boldin

Chicago Bears

Attempting to acquire Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Anquan Boldin is a no brainer. So it should come as no surprise that the Bears tried to get involved in trade talks with the Cardinals. Jerry Angelo admitted his interest to the reporters gathered at Halas Hall Saturday night. This is courtesy of ESPN 1000's Jason Belenke, who was stationed at the Bears facility:

"We did have conversations with Arizona, but nothing was able to get resolved," said Angelo.

A sign that Arizona would (at least for the time being) hang on to Boldin began to emerge at pick No. 19 of the first round, when Philadelphia moved up to take Missouri wide receiver Jeremy Maclin. Then the Giants took Hakeem Nicks (No. 29) and the Titans selected Kenny Britt (No. 30). All three teams were likely also in the mix for Boldin.

Pressed on whether or not the Boldin deal was officially dead, Angelo responded, "I assume so."
