From 32 to 1: Chicago Bears

TEAM NEEDS

Quarterback:
Sike!

Wide Receiver: If Jay Cutler throws a perfect pass to the end zone, will there be anyone to catch it? I love Devin Hester, but he's more of a tease at the position than anything else. Brandon Lloyd is not number one or even a number two, Rashied Davis is primarily a slot receiver and Marty Booker is lucky to be on the roster. Last year's third rounder Earl Bennett might stand the most to gain from the Cutler trade as they were teammates back at Vanderbilt, but he will certainly have to step his game up. Without a first round pick, the Bears should hope a guy like Penn State's Derrick Williams will be around when they pick in the second.

Cornerback:
While the overall play of the defense was solid last season, the lack of a true cover corner was obvious. Charles Tillman matches up well against big receivers but Nathan Vasher appeared to take a step back and is also proving to be injury prone. While it's tough to find upper-echelon cornerbacks late in drafts, it wouldn't hurt to take a chance on Miami's Bruce Johnson who enjoys pressing receivers at the line and was also sprinter on the track team.

Safety:
I may be nitpicking a bit here, but sooner or later the position will need to be addressed. Mike Brown continues to struggle with staying healthy and FS Kevin Payne can be a liability in coverage. Daniel Manning and Craig Stelz are behind them on the depth chart, but I have trouble seeing either one of them getting significant amount of time at either position. Brandon Underwood from Cincinnati had some major character issues before transferring from Ohio St., but proved to be a dynamic player at both free safety and corner last season for the Bearcats .

PODCAST

I recently joined Dave Dameshek on his podcast to discuss the draft. Check it out. Mel Kiper even called in and yapped a bit.
