Examining the Bears' draft profile

Here is a look at the factors that will come into play in the Chicago Bears draft room:

Decision Makers
General manager Jerry Angelo runs this front office with a firm hand, but he is also flexible enough to listen to the people around him. His right hand man in the draft is director of college scouting Greg Gabriel, who sets the board and gathers information. Senior director of football administration and general counsel Cliff Stein handles contracts and senior director of pro personnel Bobby DePaul handles pro scouting. Head coach Lovie Smith has a significant say in the type of player he wants and Angelo does a good job of working with him. This front office manages the salary cap well and puts that money back into the heart of their team to keep continuity, rather than going on a spending spree in free agency. This is a well-defined organization and they can always lean on president and CEO Ted Phillips if they need another experienced, well-informed opinion.
