From 32 to 1: Miami Dolphins

TEAM NEEDS

Guard:
The Wildcat formation used by Miami certainly created plays, but the team really struggled with simple runs up the gut. Losing Justin Smiley and Donald Thomas to injuries did them no favors, but it did showcase the lack of interior depth. While it would be stretch to take a guard in the first, I'd look for the team to address the position early. Wisconsin's Kraig Urbik is big enough to play tackle, but his agility and ability to pull make him a viable option in the second round.

Wide Receiver:
While youngsters Ted Ginn and Davone Bess are exciting playmakers, the team's lack of a true number one WR is an issue. Greg Camarillo looked the part at moments, but the jury is still out. Darrius Heyward-Bey of Maryland would be a terrific fit in the first round. If they wanted to wait, USC's Patrick Turner could be a real steal in the third or fourth round. At 6'5 220 lbs, he would instantly become the team biggest receiver.

Outside Linebacker:

While I'm writing this I should note that the team is currently courting former Dolphin Jason Taylor. Not sure where he fits on a team that made it clear to him a season ago that his services were no longer needed, but apparently even Bill Parcells likes a comeback story. Joey Porter was a freak last year with 17.5 sacks, but you have to wonder how many more seasons like that he has left in the tank. Finding an eventual replacement and/or a counterpart that can play on the outside and isn't a liability in coverage should be a priority. Oklahoma's Nic Harris could really flourish in a system like this as he played a lot of safety in college , but has the natural instincts to play linebacker. He could still be around when they pick in the second round.
