No. 18: Colts' best draft class

Indianapolis Colts

ESPN Stats and Information has ranked all NFL players drafted in the modern draft (1967-2008) based on their performance during their NFL careers -- regardless of how they fared with the team that drafted them. Insider will count down each team's best draft class (seeded 1-32), then conduct a tournament to determine the best class of all time.

COLTS' BEST CLASS: 1969

The Colts are an above-average drafting team according to ESPN Stats and Information's ranking system -- both in Baltimore and in Indianapolis. They've picked better quarterbacks than anyone else. Their draft picks have a combined six MVPs -- three more than the next closest team. And they've tended to be a better offensive drafting team (six of their top eight players are on the offensive side).

The Colts are one of only five teams to have three or more players score more than 60 points in our system.

Both the 1969 and 1998 draft classes helped the Colts win a Super Bowl. But the 1969 class had better depth.
