Michigan Tech 76, Jacksonville State 58

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -- Tim Strom finished with 16 points and 10 rebounds and Radayl Richardson added 14 points and six rebounds as Michigan Tech defeated Jacksonville State 76-58 in the final day of the Oneida Casino Holiday Classic on Saturday night.

Courtney Bradley finished with game-highs of 21 points and 13 rebounds for the Gamecocks but it wasnt enough to overcome a 17-point halftime deficit.

The Huskies, a Division II team, hit eight of 12 3-pointers in the first half to help build their big lead. Michigan Tech (8-6) survived a 6:50 scoreless drought in the second half as Jacksonville State (3-10) failed to cut the lead to less than 14 points in the second half.

Michigan Tech held a slim 16-14 lead midway through the first half, but reserve guard Kevin Maloney hit four straight shots, including three 3-pointers, to score all 11 of his points in a 2:22 stretch that pushed the Huskies lead to 27-18. The Huskies then ended the first half on a 15-3 run to build a comfortable cushion.

Dorien Brown had 14 points and eight rebounds for the Gamecocks and Will Ginn added 13 points.

The win was Michigan Techs first against a Division I school since 1989 when it defeated Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Both teams came into the three-day, four-team round-robin tournament 0-2, but the Huskies salvaged their final game. Jacksonville State lost its fourth straight game and has dropped six of its last seven.
