MANHASSET, N.Y. -- Bob Ryan of the Boston Globe won the Dick Schaap Award for Excellence in Sports Journalism.
The award will be presented by the Nassau County Sports Commission on April 30 in Carle Place, N.Y.
Ryan, a staffer at the Globe since 1969, became a sports columnist in 1989. He is a regular on ESPN's "Around the Horn" and "The Sports Reporters."
The Dick Schaap Award was established in 2002 to honor the memory of the journalist and broadcaster.
