Blue Jays hire Ducey as a pro scout

TORONTO -- The Toronto Blue Jays hired former outfielder Rob
Ducey on Monday as a professional scout.

A Toronto native, Ducey will be responsible for spring training
coverage as well as scouting the majors and minors throughout the
season.

Ducey began his coaching career in 2004 as an instructor for the
Montreal Expos Double-A affiliate in Harrisburg and spent last
season as the hitting coach for the Staten Island Yankees of the
Class A New York-Penn League. He is expected to be part of Canada's
coaching staff for the World Baseball Classic in March.

Ducey played parts of seven seasons with the Blue Jays,
appearing in 188 games and batting .234 with 18 doubles, two homers
and 31 RBIss.
