Cowboys LB Damien Wilson injures eye while playing paintball

NFL, Dallas Cowboys

OXNARD, Calif. -- There were injuries the Dallas Cowboys knew they were going to have to deal with when they arrived in California for training camp, like Darren McFadden's broken elbow, Lance Dunbar's knee rehab and Benson Mayowa's knee rehab.

They weren't expecting to be dealing with a paintball injury.

According to owner and general manager Jerry Jones, second-year linebacker Damien Wilson suffered an eye injury while playing paintball.

Jones let the news slip when discussing the changes in the NFL and the risks it has involved over the last 25 years.

"That's real hard to grasp and figure those issues," Jones said. "I'm being trite when I say it because it's a serious enough issue to keep him off the field for a couple of weeks."

Wilson will open camp on the non-football injury list. Executive vice president Stephen Jones wasn't sure of all the details surrounding Wilson's injury, just that they did not believe it was too serious.

"We feel good that he'll be back here in 10 days, barring any complications," Stephen Jones said.
