Browns DE Armonty Bryant pleads guilty to misdemeanor drug charge

Cleveland Browns defensive end Armonty Bryant pleaded guilty Wednesday in common pleas court to a reduced charge of attempted drug possession.

Bryant had been arrested with former defensive back De'Ante Saunders early Christmas morning in Cuyahoga County, Ohio. Saunders was charged with drunken driving and speeding, and his case will be heard Monday. Bryant was charged with felony drug possession because Adderall and oxycodone were found in the car, and he pleaded not guilty in February.

Bryant's plea agreement Wednesday resulted in a first-degree misdemeanor conviction. He was given a 180-day suspended jail sentence, a $1,000 fine and 68 days of probation.

The probation will end Oct. 3, the same day Bryant's four-game suspension for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing drugs ends. His case now will be reviewed by the NFL under the personal conduct and substance abuse policies.

Coach Hue Jackson and vice president Sashi Brown will address the media Thursday as part of a general training camp overview. The Browns begin camp Friday.
