Taking a spin around the NFL with the latest news and notes from Friday:

Today's top pick

Linebackers Jaylon Smith and Myles Jack did not have to wait long to hear their names called Friday night.

The Cowboys took Smith with the 34th overall pick. A knee injury caused him to slide, but according to Todd Archer, Smith is not ready to rule out a return to action in 2016.

The Jaguars, meanwhile, traded up to take Jack two picks later.

"We want to be great. We've got to take chances," Jaguars general manager Dave Caldwell said.

If Jack (knee) can stay healthy, Jacksonville selected a player with huge upside to add to first-round pick Jalen Ramsey.

Mike DiRocco has all the details on the Jaguars' selections.

What's happening

After suffering an allergic reaction early in the day, Dolphins offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil met with the media, but he was in no mood to revisit his wild Thursday night. "Just know that they got a good guy that puts everything on the line for the team," Tunsil said, per James Walker. "It's been good. I've been drafted. I'm happy."

The Jets took a flier on a quarterback, drafting Penn State's Christian Hackenberg in the second round (51st overall). With Ryan Fitzpatrick still unsigned, Rich Cimini has the latest on the Jets' quarterback situation.

The Tampa Bay Bucs pulled a stunner and took kicker Roberto Aguayo in the second round (59th overall).
