What's trending in the NFL: Tackle Laremy Tunsil falls to Dolphins

NFL

Taking a spin around the NFL with the latest news and notes from Thursday:

Today's top pick

In an unexpected twist, the story of the first round became Ole Miss offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil falling to the Dolphins at No. 13.

A video posted to Tunsil's Twitter account showed him wearing a gas mask and smoking something. Tunsil said the clip was from years ago and that his account was hacked.

Later, his Instagram showed a text message conversation that suggested Ole Miss was helping Tunsil's mother with bills.

When asked about the post, Tunsil admitted to reporters he had taken money while in college.

As for the Dolphins, they get a player who was considered one of the top prospects in this class at No. 13. Years from now, this pick could be looked at as an absolute steal.

What's happening

For the second time in seven years, the Rams drafted a quarterback with the first overall pick. Jeff Fisher has to be hoping that Jared Goff can help him deliver his first winning season as a coach since 2008. Nick Wagoner has all the details.

Eagles coach Doug Pederson says he loves Carson Wentz's intangibles. As Phil Sheridan writes, the organization now has its quarterback of the future. Howie Roseman and company have to decide what to do with Sam Bradford.

The Cowboys went with Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliott with the No. 4 pick. "Going into the draft, Dallas was the No. 1 place I wanted to end up at," Elliott said, per Todd Archer. "It's definitely a dream come true."

The Broncos moved up for Memphis quarterback Paxton Lynch, and their pursuit of Colin Kaepernick is likely over, writes Jeff Legwold.

In non-draft news, Raiders owner Mark Davis has pledged $500 million towards a new stadium to move the team to Las Vegas. Paul Gutierrez was on the scene Thursday afternoon.

In an ESPN Insider piece, Todd McShay runs through the best available prospects for Day 2. UCLA's Myles Jack is at the top of his board.

Leftovers

NFL Nation reporters give thumbs up and thumbs down for the first-round selections.... Is QB Ryan Fitzpatrick willing to sit out next year rather than cave to the Jets' contract demands. ... Why the Chargers went with Joey Bosa with the No. 3 pick. ... The Patriots posted a picture of Tom Brady on the team's official Instagram account as soon as the draft started.

Take a look

I can't decide if this is the best or worst thing I saw Thursday night.

Closing number: 11

That's the number of running backs who have been drafted in the top five in the last 20 years. Only two -- LaDainian Tomlinson and Edgerrin James -- went to more than one Pro Bowl. The Cowboys are hoping they got the exception with Elliott.
