NEW ORLEANS -- Veteran Josh Scobee hopped onto the New Orleans Saints' kicker carousel Friday, announcing on Facebook that he has signed with the team. If Scobee wins the job, he will be the 11th kicker used in 11 years under coach Sean Payton. It's unclear whether the Saints plan to re-sign free agent veteran Kai Forbath for competition. Scobee, 33, spent his first 11 seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars and became the franchise's all-time leading scorer, making 81 percent of his field goals from 2004 to 2014. He scored 1,022 points and made 235 field goals with the Jaguars, including a game-winning 59-yarder against the Indianapolis Colts in 2010.  He was traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers last August, and he lasted only four games before being cut. Scobee made just 6 of 10 field goal attempts in Pittsburgh, including two misses in a 23-20 loss to the Baltimore Ravens before he was released. He later revealed to Jacksonville.com that he had injured his quad and hip flexor before that Ravens game, which prevented him from working out for other teams for several weeks. The Saints' hard luck at kicker continued last year, when they cut first-year pro Dustin Hopkins in training camp only to see him thrive with the Washington Redskins. The Saints used two kickers last year, signing Forbath as a midseason replacement after first-year pro Zach Hocker struggled. Forbath made 9 of 13 field goal attempts for the Saints, including a game-winning 50-yarder against the New York Giants in Week 8. He made 33 of 34 extra-point attempts.
