Reggie Bush says he's not done, despite barely playing last season and being cut by the Detroit Lions the year before.
"I'm not retiring," Bush told reporters in San Francisco on Sunday. "I'm still playing. No, I'm not done. And I would never -- knock on wood -- I never want to end my career like that, going out with that."
Bush played in five games last season for the San Francisco 49ers, gaining 28 yards. He was placed on injured reserve after suffering a knee injury against St. Louis in Week 8, slipping on the concrete at the Edward Jones Dome.
The Lions cut Bush after an injury-plagued 2014 season, and he said Sunday that he wanted to remain there.
"But obviously they had different plans and now the GM's not there," Bush told reporters at the NFL Honors show according to the Detroit Free Press. "So it all works out somehow."
The Lions moved on from him after the season, giving a larger role to Theo Riddick and drafting Ameer Abdullah in the second round. Detroit started 1-7 and Martin Mayhew, the general manager who made all of those moves, was fired at the midpoint of the year. He was eventually replaced by Bob Quinn.
The 30-year-old Bush played two seasons with the Lions after signing as a free agent prior to the 2013 season. He rushed for 1,006 yards in 2013 along with 506 receiving yards in 2013. In 2014, he was limited to 11 games and gained only 297 yards.
