NFLPA, FanDuel announce licensing partnership

NFL, null, Washington Commanders

WASHINGTON -- The NFL Players Association and daily sports fantasy website FanDuel are teaming up.

Active NFL players will be allowed to participate in in FanDuel's product marketing and promotions under a multiyear group licensing partnership announced Friday.

State legislatures across the U.S. are grappling with the legality and possible regulation of daily fantasy sports, which attracted scrutiny after a multimillion-dollar advertising blitz at the start of the NFL season.

Earlier this week, Washington Redskins receiver Pierre Garcon voluntarily dropped his lawsuit against FanDuel after the two sides resolved the dispute. Garcon filed suit in October in federal court in Maryland, accusing FanDuel of using his name and likeness in TV ads and on its website without his consent.
