Broncos plan on DeMarcus Ware (back) missing game

The Denver Broncos are planning to be without pass-rusher DeMarcus Ware for Sunday's game against the Cleveland Browns, a source told ESPN NFL Insider Ed Werder on Tuesday.

Ware suffered a back injury in the second quarter of Sunday's game against Oakland and did not return. He was running in the open field when he reached for his back and jogged gingerly to the sideline. He was eventually taken to the locker room on a cart.

The source told Werder that the Broncos will rest Ware this week, the Broncos' bye week, and then re-evaluate him prior to the Nov. 1 game against the Green Bay Packers.

Ware had multiple back and neck issues when he played for the Dallas Cowboys. During the 2009 season, Ware was taken from the field on a cart during a game against the San Diego Chargers and eventually spent a night in the hospital with what was later said to be a sprained neck.

Shaquil Barrett filled in during Ware's absence against the Raiders and would likely get plenty of work against the Browns should Ware miss the game.
